Services
Threshold Services currently offers the following direct service programs.
- Two Outpatient Mental Health Centers in Rockville and Silver Spring provide psychiatric medical treatment and individual, group and family therapy for more than 800 people. Services include a variety of individual and group modalities.
- Supported Employment - in a collaboration with St. Lukes House we help 48 people choose, get and keep jobs.
- The residential rehabilitation program serves 109 people. Two eight-person group homes are staffed 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. Apartments and single family homes are typically staffed 8 a.m to 9 p.m. seven days per week, with staff available on call from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m. Services include intensive case management, supportive counseling, benefits coordination, crisis intervention, skill development and practical assistance.
- Threshold Services also serves more than 100 people in our Outreach program. Clients live in their own homes, other people's homes, or are homeless. Staff are available 7 days a week to provide intensive case management, supportive counseling, benefits coordination, crisis intervention, skill development and practical assistance.
- Within the Rehabilitation program, we have a specialized Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment (IDDT) team that works with 35 people who have both mental health and substance use disorders. This team includes a psychiatrist, therapist, a certified addictions counselor, rehabilitation counselors and a Program Director. The staff on this team provide services for both disorders using the evidence based practice model - IDDT. In fact, as of December 2009, ALL Threshold Services programs are considered Dual Diagnosis capable based upon proven assessment tools completed and scored by the Dartmouth College Psychiatric Research Center. This means that all of our programs welcome and can provide services for people with both mental health and substance use disorders.
- Renaissance Psychoeducational Day Program serves 50 people. Renaissance is a wellness and recovery day program that aims to nurture self-esteem, develop community living skills, and improve interpersonal relationships. To view a sample program schedule, please click here.
- Renaissance and the two Group Homes also provide Illness Management and Recovery (IMR). This evidence based practice is a structured group that lasts for 9 - 12 months. IMR helps the client to set goals and then incorporate the goals in all parts of the client's life-housing, jobs, social supports, substance use, and mental health issues. The focus is on the client having control over his or her life, defining his/her recovery and having hope for success.
Threshold Services also is active in advocacy, professional education, public education, and partnerships to develop a full continuum of mental health services for the community.
